My Story
I love my work as a mindful educator and coach!
In 1996 I went to the library to find a book on meditation. I needed to reduce stress. I practiced breathing and yoga postures outside that summer, while the wind ruffled the pages I held in my hand. I was living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, while working and studying to earn my Masters degree at the time. Even with that full plate the practices reduced stress and pain.
I now teach the mindful practices that helped me lead a happy, fulfilling life while managing chronic pain and multiple chronic medical conditions. In addition to the health benefits, these tools help me prioritize to-do lists, cope with sensations, sleep well, and maintain a positive outlook on life!

The big difference between my classes and apps or pre-recorded meditations is that clients help create the live experience. We begin every class by setting intentions together. I ask, “What do you come in search of? What do you desire at this time?” I address the collective list of needs as I guide our practice. You receive what you need, and a little bit of everyone’s positive intentions. You are welcome to stay after the meditation is complete and engage with community members. We continue to support each other during the week in our client-only Facebook group.

Birth of a Business
This is a great place to add a tagline.
My work with yoga and meditation began with my personal practice in 1996. I was a full-time graduate student, working as a live-in college residence hall director, while coping with new, life changing post-viral illness. Simple mindful practices helped my concentration, mood, and health.
I was asked to teach yoga for the first time in 1997 to a group of pre-school teachers. I was hesitant to teach skills that were new to me, but the request had come from a friend’s mother…the kind of mom who is tough to say “no” to! She explained, “You have skills to help my staff. Anything you can share with them will make them feel better, and I need them to feel better.” That first day of in-service training was a success, and I’ve never hesitated to offer peace since then.
I completed my master’s degree in counseling in 1998 and immediately began weaving mindfulness into my professional life.
My career as a college administrator allowed me to play and create student leadership trainings like "The Yoga of Leadership" stress management programs for both students and “Office Yoga” for staff.
I began teaching yoga and meditation professionally in 2005 after training at the Kripalu Center in Massachusetts. I created classes at a yoga studio and on location at a camp, a church and in my full-time work at Mount Holyoke College.
In 2009 I shifted to a full-time focus on mindful practices. I opened the doors to my first business, Creation Yoga, in Westchester County, New York.
I developed a Yoga for Birth Program by creating Fertility, Prenatal, Mommy & Me and Yoga for Labor classes, and designed Women's Pelvic Yoga and Diastasis Recti workshops. I built a model of strong online community connection for all who are called to mother. I am thrilled that Yoga for Birth lives on in NY as Prana Prenatal Yoga, now that I live in Virginia!
In 2020 I began offering online classes for Prana to meet the needs of adults and children coping with the global pandemic.
An Anchored Life was born in January of 2021 to offer mindfulness classes, private wellness coaching, and professional workshops to adults, families, and teams. I create new offerings each year and welcome your requests for workshops and classes!
